Samantha de Villiers Director

Samantha de Villiers is a leading conservation and environmental law expert with over a decade of experience navigating South Africa’s most complex environmental legislation.
With a background in Environmental Science and Law (BA, LLB, Rhodes University), Samantha has made significant contributions to protected area expansion, biodiversity conservation, and environmental governance nationally. She has successfully represented clients in both the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal, and is recognised for her strategic and solutions-focused approach.
Samantha is one of the foremost legal experts on the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (NEM:PAA), and played a founding role in the KwaZulu-Natal Protected Areas Declaration Task Team — the first of its kind in South Africa.
Amy Nel Associate
LL.B (UP), LPC No. 106439
Amy Nel is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a developing practice in environmental and conservation law. She holds an LLB from the University of Pretoria and completed her articles in April 2023, with early career experience in domestic violence and family law.
She is currently gaining practical experience in environmental compliance, protected area governance, and land-use regulation, working closely with senior practitioners on regulatory and governance matters. Amy has worked with landowners, farmers, and conservation bodies, and is known for her practical, solutions-focused and collaborative approach.
Living on a farm gives Amy a grounded understanding of sustainable land use and reinforces her commitment to legal work that balances environmental protection with livelihoods.
Sandra Nel Office Manager
Sandra Nel serves as Office Manager, overseeing the administrative and operational functions of the firm to ensure systems run efficiently and the office operates smoothly. She brings extensive experience in organisational management and professional support, and is also a qualified Transformation and Workplace Wellness Coach with a strong interest in communication, wellbeing, and effective workplace practices.
